User Roles & Permissions
M2tric uses a six-role hierarchy to control what each team member can see and do. Higher roles inherit all permissions from lower ones, so each role builds on the one below it.
Understanding roles
Roles are ranked from highest to lowest level of access:
Owner › Admin › Supervisor › Estimator › Installer › Read-only
Owner
Full access to everything, including billing, account deletion, and team management. Every organization has exactly one Owner — the person who created it. Ownership cannot be transferred.
Admin
Full access to all features and settings. Admins can invite and remove users, manage billing, and configure organization settings. The only difference from Owner is that Admins cannot delete the organization.
Supervisor
Manage jobs, scheduling, and approvals. Supervisors can delete jobs, manage templates and presets, approve or reject scope packs, and manage schedules. They cannot manage users or organization settings.
Estimator
Create and manage scope packs. Estimators can create jobs, edit jobs, create clients, and build measurements. They cannot delete jobs, approve scope packs, or manage schedules.
Installer
View assigned jobs and submit photos. Installers can see the jobs they are assigned to but cannot create or edit jobs, clients, or scope packs.
Read-only
View-only access to jobs and clients. Read-only users cannot create, edit, or delete anything. Useful for stakeholders who need visibility without the ability to make changes.

¹ Estimators can create and edit jobs but cannot delete them.
² Installers can only view jobs they are assigned to, not all jobs.

Choosing the right role

Common questions
- How do I change someone’s role? — Owners and Admins can update roles from the team list. See Inviting Your Team for details.
- Can I create custom roles? — Not currently. M2tric uses a fixed set of six roles.
- What happens when I change a role mid-job? — The change takes effect immediately. The user’s access updates across all existing and future jobs.
- Can an Owner transfer ownership? — Ownership is assigned to the person who created the organization and cannot currently be transferred.
Troubleshooting
- “I can’t access a feature I need” — your current role may not include that permission. Ask your organization’s Owner or Admin to update your role from the team list.
- “I can’t invite team members” — only Owner and Admin roles can send invitations. See Inviting Your Team.
- “I can only see some jobs” — Installers can only view jobs assigned to them. Ask a Supervisor or Admin to assign you to additional jobs.
